The design process
The design process involves a number of steps, which are described below. Erigeron Garden Design can help with the whole design process or you may decide to have us prepare you a design concept plan only. Erigeron Garden Design can also help with plant selection, supply and installation, and ongoing garden care, should you wish. It is entirely up to you.
The design process starts with Anna providing you with an initial garden consultation and assessment.
1. Initial garden consultation and assessment - $180
A site visit and consultation - up to 90mins.
Anna will meet with you to listen to your garden needs and will work with you to develop a brief based on your input and a tour of your garden space.
Anna will discuss ideas and concepts, as well as any design or budget constraints.
Payment for the initial garden consultation on the day of consultation is requested.
After the consultation, and within a week of meeting, Anna will provide you with a written garden consultation and assessment report summarising:
Should you decide to engage Erigeron Garden Design to help you achieve your garden dreams, the cost of your initial consultation meeting will be deducted from the cost of further services. A copy of our service list and prices can be provided on request.
2. Design proposal
Anna will return to your site to conduct a comprehensive site visit. This includes measuring up the site and analysing its existing structures and key features. Soil samples for testing may also be taken.
Anna will then meet with you again (30-60mins, depending on garden size and complexity) to finalise your design proposal, which will form the basis for the development of a design concept plan. This can be done on the day of the comprehensive site visit, or another day that suits.
After this meeting, Anna will provide you with the design proposal for your approval. This document will outline your decisions on how you wish to use your garden space, its look, themes and feel.
The design proposal will also detail the flat fee for preparing a design concept plan.
3. Design concept plan
Anna will then prepare you a design concept plan. This document is a scale concept drawing and includes floor plans and base elevations, planting suggestions and materials palette, and explains the functional roles of each identified garden zone.
The cost for developing the design concept plan includes provision for 2 revisions.
You can choose to finish your work with Erigeron Garden Designs at this stage, or have Anna prepare you a detailed design master plan.
4. Design master plan
A design master plan. This includes a full site analysis, a scale plan of the site showing existing key features, the final design master plan and detailed planting plan, with plant lists and reference images.
5. Plant selection, supply and installation
Anna has access to specialist wholesale trade nurseries and can source, select and supply you with the plants you need for your garden design project. In addition, and to complete your garden design project, Anna can also provide you with a plant installation service.
Hard landscaping and construction drawings
Erigeron Garden Design specialises in soft landscape design. Apart from concept drawings for materials and structures, we do not provide structural advice or detailed designs for hard landscaping or construction drawings. This type of work requires engagement of a registered building practitioner and qualified hard landscaping professionals. Sometimes the services of an engineer may also be required. This type of work will also likely require planning approval by your local council prior to commencement of these works.
On request we can provide recommendations for reliable and reputable service providers.
Follow-Up Visits
Unless you have asked Anna to provide plant selection, supply and installation services, Anna will visit your site, free of charge, during the planting phase to ensure the plants selected are appropriately placed to achieve the desired design outcome. Anna will also schedule two further follow up visits to see how your new garden is progressing.
